Moeri Suda, Machi, and Kate Lotus all announced for Deep Jewels 41 -

Deep Jewels has announced that Deep Jewels 41, their 2nd event of the year, is scheduled for May 28th at the New Pier Hall in Tokyo, Japan. In a testament to how far things have come since 2020, two of the promotion’s young stars, Moeri Suda and Machi, are set to face fighters coming in from abroad. Other popular fighters Momoko Yamazaki and Kate Lotus have also been announced for the card. It is also worth noting that according to a tweet from the official Deep / Deep Jewels account about the U-Next deal, we can expect three more Deep Jewels shows after Rizin 41. Outside of U-Next, the event will also be available on Youtube to those that have a Deep membership.

Moeri Suda versus Jeong Eun Park

With a record of 8-4 and submission victories over Hikaru Aono, Eru Takebayashi and most recently, Yuko Kiryu, it is easy to forget that Moeri Suda is just 18 years old and graduated from high school earlier this year. Training at her father’s gym and sparring with fellow Osaka-based fighters like Aoi Kurayama and Arisa Matsuda, Suda has shown rapid improvement between fights and having already fought for and won in Rizin, she is clearly in a position where she could become a new star for the promotion.

Across the cage from her will be Jeong Eun Park, a 26 year old South Korea native who is no stranger to either fighting Japanese fighters or fighting in Japan, having faced Emi Fujino in her pro-debut. She also went on to face Satomi Takano, Hisae Watanabe, and Minda Kurobe, all of who have been champions at one time or another. At 26 years old, Jeong is 4-1 in her last 5, with 4 finishes and a win over Suda would immediately launch her up the rankings.

Machi vs You Jeong Kim

Saying that Machi is coming off the biggest win of her career is kind of funny, considering she is only 2-0, but she is coming off of a 1st round finish of Hime, one of the best strikers in the Strawweight division. In fact, some thought that Machi may have been rushed in her pro-debut when she was matched against Arami, but she proved the naysayers wrong then and she did it again when people thought she was being scheduled against Hime too soon. Now she is set to face her first non-Japanese opponent since turning pro in November of last year. With a look that is reminiscent of Itsuki Hirata, Machi has the potential to become a star, if she continues to win.

Across the cage from her will be You Jeong Kim, a 24 year old native of South Korea who has put together a record of 3-1 since turning pro in October of 2020. Like Machi, this will be her first fight against a foreign opponent, but unlike Machi, this will also be her first fight on foreign soil.

Momoko Yamazaki vs Reina Kobayashi

A former Outsider, Momoko Yamazaki is a popular fighter, who tends to put on exciting brawls. Coming off two losses, she will be looking to get back into the win column against Reina, who is also coming off a loss. Interestingly both fighters have won all of their fights by decision, so it’ll be interesting to see if one picks up their first.

Kate Lotus vs Saki

Since turning pro in 2020, Kate has fought tooth and nail to improve and develop her skills as a fighter. She is coming off a loss to Hikaru Aono, where the former collegiate wrestler put on a takedown clinic, taking Kate down time and time again. Before that, Kate defeated Eru Takebayashi, showing that she is improving, especially since moving to Tokyo and training with the likes of Seika Izawa.
