Deep Jewels 29

The previously canceled Deep Jewels 29 has been rescheduled for July 23 at Shinjuku Face in Tokyo. The card is headlined by an interim strawweight title fight between Miki Motono and Asami Nakai and also features Deep Jewels veteran Shizuka Sugiyama. Outside of these matches, the card is filled with young talent. A good example can be seen in Lion and Otoha, who are both 17 years old.

One may be asking why are Motono and Nakai fighting for the interim title, when the current champion, Mizuki Inoue, is currently a UFC fighter. It is likely that Deep Jewels wants a connection to Mizuki, as she is a high profile Japanese fighter fighting for the UFC, whose fights will receive media attention. Deep Jewels probably hopes that this will draw attention to them.

Another interesting aspect about this card is Shizuka Sugiyama. She has been very active on youtube recently. She has been uploading her own videos and appearing on other notable channels. It is likely that Shizuka has aspirations to fight on the Rizin stage again so one should expect her to look for a dominant win.
